Selling Characters for Bundles of Cash

CHECK OUT MY NEW POST -
HOW TO MAKE MONEY IN DIABLO 3

Blizzard will be implementing the feature to sell characters in Diablo 3 on the real money auction house. Note that it won’t be included with the release of the game. As long as it is added in the game within a reasonable amount of time; I see it being highly profitable.  There are a lot of approaches you can take to capitalize on this system. I’m already drooling over what could be gained from it.

A Highly Profitable Mechanic

Each time you kill a boss for the first time with each character, you are rewarded with high end loot tables. This means you will be getting quality drops from each boss as you play through the game. Imagine using this knowledge to your advantage and then selling the character after you get the rare items. The accumulated gold and loot from leveling; combined with the unique boss drops would be a nice chunk of change. Rinse and repeat and you’ll become a happy camper.

Multiply your Efforts

You could amplify this strategy by having several sets of elite leveling gear (+Exp, +Mobility and Ballar Weapons) for each leveling range up until level 60. If you do this with your fastest leveling class and get good at beating the game quickly in each difficulty, you could end up making quite a bit of dough.

Do this with fast paced Diablo 3 Groups or with your Diablo 3 Clan and it will become more efficient. If you don’t have anyone to play with perhaps multiboxing Diablo 3 is for you. For those of you who have no mercy and like cheating (I strongly DO NOT suggest, support or recommend this) you could use Diablo 3 bots.

Flipping

Another approach you could take would be to buy mid-high level characters from level 30-55 or so. You could then use your already acquired top end gear to farm the unique boss loot tables in the higher difficulties. After farming, you could flip the character at level 60 to make back the money you spent with some additional interest.

Alternatively you could stock pile a particular class at the maximum level; most likely the Most OP Diablo 3 Class, (which will change with patches) and then unload them during specific time frames.  This strategy might work better with multiple accounts so you can keep a large supply.

Sell Quality

The last method includes acquiring a full item set or specific items that are known to be synergistic. It might take some time, but it could be well worth it. You can sell the character at an extremely expensive rate for having gathered all the items. There are people out there who have the job and money to pay extra for a complete set like this. It eliminates a lot of effort for them and quenches their perfectionist “collector’s syndrome” needs.  Selling characters with specific gear can help speed up making cash for you. The reason is because you can only sell 10x items at a time on the real money auction house. You can eliminate large inventory problems through this method.

The feature that allows you to sell characters in Diablo 3 on the real money auction house will definitely be worth looking into. The unique boss kill, enhanced loot table is too juicy to look past. I wouldn’t underestimate its potential unless Blizzard decides to release the ability to sell characters in Diablo 3 too late.

  1. Good article. I wrote some of my own thoughts about Diablo 3 economics down ( http://www.diablo3warrior.com/can-diablo-3-really-provide-steady-income/ ), but I didn’t include any speculation about the sale of characters.

Like you said. It’s definitely a time investment, and that time will likely have some worth. Real-world investors flee from investments suffering from inflation and look for investments that “preserve” their wealth.

Maybe in Diablo 3, having characters will be the best way to have “wealth preservation.”

    Great job.
