If you’re trying to make money off the RMAH – Then read my new article to find out the top tips on How to Make Money in Diablo 3
A lot of people underestimate the potential of a built in real money system in Diablo 3. People have made a good deal of money in games without any direct system. This Diablo 3 real money auction house system opens up a new world of potential.
The Past Reveals Answers
If you look into the past at any game involving acquiring or collecting items, (virtual or real) there are ALWAYS opportunities that average participators miss. Whether it’s a card game like Magic the Gathering, baseball cards, Pokemon cards, or an online game like WoW or Lineage 2, opportunities exist. On some level, people involved in these games value the items enough to pay bundles for the rares. History doesn’t lie friend.

You always hear about a select few out of the crowd making a good deal of cash. The majority of players lack the clarity, time or skill to make money the same way. More importantly, people don’t do enough thinking outside of the box.
I’m very familiar with WoW and it’s a great example of where opportunities exist that most people don’t see or take advantage of. Furthermore, WoW is one of the least profitable games on the market for the amount of subscribers, dedication and time invested into the game. The average person thinks making money off of WoW only includes selling gold, top end items that can be traded, or a bunch of the level capped characters. Even in a game that isn’t very profitable, opportunities still exist. They just aren’t what you’d expect.
Find Value
I know for sure that hardcore PvE raiders in WoW have sold their characters for several thousand dollars when having acquired early legendary gear or the highest tiered early in an expansion. I’m talking upwards of 3000 to 4000 dollars. Timing generally dictates value and how efficiently you will make money. Hard to achieve titles, mounts and other esoteric items make a character very valuable in people’s eyes. All it takes is one buyer.
Another way is to sell a service to people who are stuck progressing. These are called carries in WoW PvP and can apply to PvE as well. A group or one person will carry the buyer’s character on their back. It can involve playing their character or just inviting the buyer to play in their skilled group. This is highly valuable because the majority of the population is stuck below a threshold. Beyond this threshold great in game rewards exist.
In WoW PvP people want specific gear that can only be attained after getting a high enough rating. I’ve heard of people paying upwards of 500-600 dollars for a carry and I can see it being double or triple for titles rewarded from the highest rank in PvP. You could easily carry 5-8 people a month.
I’ve heard about a few people playing the auction house in WoW, having multiple accounts gold capped with guild banks on each character. They just do this for fun – most of them don’t even sell the gold. Now apply this obsession to the real money auction house and they could wreak havoc.
Now I don’t think somebody is going to make more in Diablo 3 than a real high-paying job, but there is potential to make a number worth your while if you enjoy what the “work” involves. Analyze and evaluate the Diablo 3 and apply the value principals. Think of what people want and how you can give them what they want. The real money system in Diablo 3 grants the ability to list any item for any price. It’s a great currency exchange tool that everyone should use. Any service can be sold for any price.
